the dreamers:
Very early on in my life I came to understand how dreams can be a medium for healing, growing and changing in our lives. In the earliest stages of my childhood I was lucid dreaming effortlessly, and of course, it was fulfilling and I was happy. But as reality set in I felt like they would start slipping away, and it’s taken me years to create a space within myself and a life that sustains me and my dream.
the could-be-dreamers:
Many people know this already but often dreams become buried by day-to-day problems, and the part of our brain that was built for dreaming becomes less active. Others have never even given a thought to dreams, and while sleep is unavoidable, dreams are optional and just there. Some people think they don’t dream at all, and if they do they don’t remember their dreams. All of these realities are absolutely just fine, whatever stage we are in when it comes to the dream state…is what’s right for ourselves.
the challenges:
If you’re anything like me, you are curious and open-minded, you feel dreams are fascinating and makes sense in their own way. But if like me, you have been tossed around by life, pushed and pulled, hurt and traumatized – you may also have had nightmares. Life has a way of sometimes letting us down, and some of us more than others. Even though dreams are my passion, at some point during my darkest hours I have even tossed dreams out the window believing that they had nothing to offer me in the real world. Despite my abandonment of my own dreams, they came right back to me harder, better, faster, stronger.
the psychology:
There are many kinds of dreams, and scientific dreams are just one of the many dream states. In my opinion a dream is a dream even if it’s a daydream or hope of something we desire. It’s frustrating to communicate about our dreams because no one can see them, just like no one can see our thoughts, our voices, our feelings, our senses. Similar to psychotherapy, dreamwork can put us in touch with our feelings and provide the environment we need for improved cognitive function and emotional regulation.
the cute little crow way:
When cute little crow came to me in my early 20s, I set an intention to reintegrate my dreamworld back into my reality and create a practice in lucid dream facilitation. I started investing more emotional intelligence in my dreams, and little by little built my practice. All my life I have wanted to share this gift with others and guide people who are looking to heal and thrive in this life through dream work. While dreams might not be a magical formula to make our lives perfect in this world, they can alleviate our stress, help us manage pain, and empower us to live better and be happier.
